Deciding What's Important

People matter. Work for work's sake doesn't.

A clean house is important, because it creates a space for great things to happen. A spotless house isn’t.

Having quality gear is important. Having the best gear is nice, but isn’t essential.

Practicing smart and hard every day is very important. Missing one day’s practice isn’t worth losing sleep over.

Making sure you take care of your health is important. Messing up once in awhile on your diet is no big deal.

We have to decide what is really important to us. Not what we say is important, but what really is. Then we need to make space in our schedules and our lives for our priorities.

Great example of splurging: I was part of California tour earlier in the month that included several pit stops at this great burger place. We've got to learn to relax enough to enjoy this stuff without guilt once in awhile.
