Deciding On Friday

It’s Monday (if you’re reading this on Monday). But if you’re a musician without a day job, you already know Mondays aren’t the typical “work week” Mondays. Same goes for Fridays.

Maybe you played a gig over the weekend. Or maybe Monday is your first day home from a four day tour (a common pattern in Nashville). Or Monday is the start of your weekend because you don’t have a session until Wednesday.

As musicians, our schedules are always a little (or a lot) chaotic, but it also gives us flexibility to decide what we do, and when.

The problem with schedule is also the gift: we get to decide when Friday is. Just don’t make the mistake of deciding every day is a Monday.
