If you want a good hang, invite a bunch of fun, interesting people. Then insert a few oddballs.

If you want to play the blues, play a bunch of “right” notes, with a few “wrong” notes.

If you want to make a great recording, get the best musicians doing their best work. Then leave in a little tape hiss, a few mistakes, and some less than perfect gear (see: analog).
